With a voice rich as the best mid-west soil, Sara’s songs carry you inward and outward—in, to the particulars of your own life, and out—into the shared humanity of us all. Her performance style is easygoing and full of humor and depth, capturing the audience’s engagement. Sara’s music gently enfolds and unfolds the listener.

“Thomsen’s soulful voice, poetic lyrics and unforgettable melodies cut through to the heart and the soul of human experience,” proclaims the Minnesota Women’s Press.

Dubbed in her local press as “one of Northern Minnesota’s best kept secrets,” Thomsen’s home base is in the Lake Superior region near Duluth, MN. “The Twin Ports folk singer picks up the torch carried by the balladeers of decades past: Joan Baez, Pete Seeger, Holly Near, Ronnie Gilbert, and Peter, Paul, and Mary” writes the Duluth Reader Weekly. “

SaraThomsenCoverJPGAs a solo artist Sara has created 4 CDs of breathtaking compositions. She has also teamed with Rabbi Amy Bernstein and Paula Pedersen for 2 CDs under the moniker of “Three Altos.”

More about Sara…

In 2002 Sara founded a non-audition community choir to sing for the Art of Peace event in Duluth, MN, a local response to the event and aftermath of 9/11/01. The Art of Peace, held annually for six years, brought varied artistic expressions together to inspire and instigate creativity and peacemaking. The Echoes of Peace Choir has since grown and evolved to presenting biannual concerts and singing at various community events throughout the year. The Duluth choir currently has a membership of about seventy five voices.
