Join us in welcoming noted author, researcher, historian Fr. Francis Tiso back to Carbondale for a morning of exploration into meditation as a foundation for well-being on a personal as well as social level.

Working from basic body and breath methods that enhance mindfulness, Fr. Tiso will guide participants in developing some physical and conceptual visualization methods that awaken the inner experience of formless light. These methods employ seed syllables, color visualization corresponding to rainbow light, geometrical forms, and numerical symbolism, open to but not requiring a particular confession of faith.

The morning will conclude with the exploration of suggestions on how to adapt the practice to personal inclinations, faith commitments, and the socio-cultural context in which we live today.

Fr. Tiso is the author of the highly acclaimed book, The Rainbow Body and The Resurrection. He holds the degrees of A.B. in Medieval Studies from Cornell University, Master of Divinity degree (cum laude) at Harvard University and doctorate from Columbia University and Union Theological Seminary where his specialization was Buddhist studies. He translated several early biographies of the Tibetan yogi and poet, Milarepa, for his dissertation on sanctity in Indo-Tibetan Buddhism.
