Join end of life coach, Akaljeet, for a screening of the documentary A Dying Wish the documentary about hospice patient, Dr. Michael Miller, an eighty-year old, retired surgeon with end-stage cancer who chooses to stop eating and drinking in order not to prolong his dying process, to ease his suffering and to die with grace.

Screening of the film will be followed by discussion with audience members about the feelings that arise for them watching this film. An exploration of end of life choices will be encouraged.

Karen Van Vuuren

Karen van Vuuren is a former broadcast news journalist with experience working in the field of end-of-life. She is also the founder and executive director of Natural Transitions, a non-profit organization providing education about conscious, holistic approaches to end of life, including after-death care and green, home funerals. Karen is the editor of Natural Transitions Magazine and is involved with the first Natural Transitions Film Festival www.ntfilmfest.org.
Karen is also co-founder and Managing Partner of The Natural Funeral, Colorado’s Holistic Funeral Home and Cremation Service a holistic funeral home and cremation service provider in Colorado. ecological and conventional cremation and burial services in Colorado Springs, Lafayette, Boulder, Denver and Longmont, CO.

Akaljeet is a graduate of the Brian Utting School of Massage and the prestigious Ruthie Hardee Ashiatsu School in Denver. She has been in private practice for over 2 decades offering her talents in a wide variety of therapeutic modalities. Akaljeet holds multiple certifications including Healing Touch, Thai, sports massage & craniosacral. Most recently, she completed the Conscious Death Coach and Sacred Passage Doula certifications at the Conscious Dying Institute of Boulder, Colorado.
