The first-ever EMPOWERed Voice Traveling Exhibit launches April 6 & 7 during Sexual Assault and Awareness month with a public exhibit of movement, music, art, and verbal expression by survivors of sexual assault. On display will be the full array of artwork from local and national survivors who courageously tell their story of healing from sexual assault.
This project comes from years of sexual assault survivors doing the hard work to reclaim their voices.
Through different mediums and personal expression, the featured artists are shedding light on what it’s like to heal from sexual assault.
The traveling exhibit is an opportunity for survivors to share their voice, be seen, and be heard – a healing experience for both artist and viewer.
It’s a chance for the public to be informed about the devastating effects of sexual assault. Perhaps even to change our culture to one of knowledge, compassion and gain the conviction to become advocates of survivors.

Claire O’leary, Founder of The Empowered VOICE traveling exhibit, is a childhood sexual assault survivor who empowers others through her peer led EMPOWER™ Technique and from Wounds to Wisdom mentoring. Claire empowers the voice of survivors through expressive arts and speaking. For 5 years, she’s led workshops and worked with individuals to guide them through blocks, helping them identify, release and reframe their trauma to empower their voice.
As a peer, Claire has a deep understanding of the ongoing effects from sexual assault and creates a safe environment for other survivors to feel comfortable and express themselves freely. As an energy practitioner, she helps release the pent up energy blocked from the years of silence and stuffing things down. As an artist, she has the skills and creativity to guide survivors through the process of creating their artwork. She has facilitated many workshops and private sessions helping survivors identify, release, and reframe their trauma so they have more inner power and feel more self-confident to express themselves easily.
